ALLGOOD

Allgood manufacture and supply architectural ironmongery of the finest quality in design and craftsmanship with the confidence of a lifetime’s performance.

For over 70 years, Allgood has been trusted to deliver the complete specification service. Our partners have the reassurance that we provide a single source guaranteeing a fully coordinated package of ironmongery and hardware. We pioneered the world’s first fully coordinated range of ironmongery in 1965 with the launch of our Modric range. Today, we continue to offer this consistent aesthetic, unrivalled durability, and ironmongery and hardware that is fully certified and compliant with all relevant regulations. In these uncertain times, our longstanding policy of ‘UK first’ in our manufacturing and sourcing decisions means over 90% of our products are from UK-based suppliers. This includes our own manufacturing operation in Birmingham which produces 25% of what we sell. We champion British manufacturing, and this also mitigates the potential risks of international supply chains. A single partner for complex times: your guarantee of quality.

Allgood was formed in 1948 by Paul Shirville and Derrick Carter-Clout who grasped an opportunity to provide a complete architectural ironmongery service for the growing post-war construction sector. The idea was simple; offer a quality of products through a quality of service. Since inception, we have strived to lead the industry through design, innovation, and service. You can see the many milestones of our business on the timeline overleaf. Today, Allgood remains privately owned by the same two families and while we may have grown, we have never lost our founding principles.

DORMA

Rudolf Mankel and his brother-in-law Wilhelm Dörken founded Dörken & Mankel KG in Ennepetal on 1 July, 1908. The first products to come out of the factory were double-action door hinges and milled screws. Right from the start, the two partners imposed the very highest quality standards on their products. The principle that applied even at that time – “Better the best at a good price than to disappoint our customers” – was destined to influence significantly the path adopted by the company, and it has indeed remained a constant right to this very day. The brand name DORMA, an acronym formed from the two surnames of the company founders, was registered with the German Patent Office in 1927.

After the upheavals of the Second World War, the company launched the TS 50 door closer, heralding a

significant move in a sector into which we are today the world market leader. In 1962, DORMA began production of a range of door operators and so took its first steps into the automatics market. In 1970, Dörken & Mankel KG was renamed DORMA GmbH & Co. KG and the third generation of the family joined the company in the person of Karl-Rudolf Mankel. The ensuing period saw increased emphasis on global alignment and further extensions to the product segments. In 1976, the company moved into the field of glass door furniture and fittings, and 1977 saw the creation of a subsidiary specialising in this sector, DORMA-Glas. Also in 1977, we established our first foreign sales company in the form of DORMA France.

DORMA South Africa commenced trading as a wholly owned subsidiary of the German parent company, DORMA GmbH+Co, in the year 1982. There were three full-time and two part-time staff members. The first warehouse and office premises were located in Alrode South, in the southern suburbs of Johannesburg. Among the first major projects where DORMA door control products were installed was Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town, 11 Diagonal Street (the Diamond building), Johannesburg and The Saambou Building in Pretoria.

An Automatic door control division was started in 1989 and DORMA Glass had negotiated a joint marketing effort with Pilkington Toughened Glass division to market toughened glass door fittings. New product diversification was introduced by the addition of locks, handles and other associated door hardware thus offering a “round the door” solution to the market. This was fully implemented in 2004. This period also saw a further expansion of the DORMA Glass range into toughened glass wall fittings and partitioning systems.

The celebration of DORMA’s 100th Anniversary was accompanied by the purchase and design of a new

building for DORMA South Africa situated in Kya Sands to the north of Johannesburg, a fitting achievement for our 25th year of trading in South Africa. Today DORMA South Africa continues to grow from strength to strength with further expansion into new African markets. Together with our business partners we will maintain and strengthen our reputation as the market leader in innovative product, unsurpassed quality, outstanding service and exceptional support.

WILKA

Wilhelm Karrenberg started his own business in 1865 in his house “Am Schnorrtüten” in Velbert with a few files and small handicraft utensils. The house was quite isolated, which probably gave reason to look around for another apartment. These were found at the “Heidefeld”, a half-timbered house with a small workshop (forge). The move took place in 1869.

The house on Heidefeld existed until the end of the 1950s on the premises that the company now owns again – approx. 200 meters from the current location of the main plant. The company is growing steadily and the owner’s three sons, Julius, August and Ernst, all join their father’s company as workers after leaving school. The eldest son Julius in 1874, August 1884 and Ernst, the youngest son in 1886. A photo from 1888 shows the company founder with his three sons, three workers and an apprentice. The apprentice from Mülheim was called “Bubsche”.

For six generations the family company in Velbert occupies itself with the solution of locking problems. Locks, cylinders and keying systems are manufactured. The trademark WILKA signifies for the highest quality worldwide.

In the town of locks and handles the craftsmanship of locksmiths of the previous centuries has been preserved even in the era of industrial mass production. WILKA technicians can use the advantage of the long experience gathered within the company since 1865. In product development as well as business transactions hard work instead of cheap sensationalism is the highest WILKA principle.

Until now WILKA is proud of having preserved a personal atmosphere in which the company is able to offer its customers up to date products of highest quality standards. Certification according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 is an expression for this.

The best proof of the unique quality standard is the result of more than 150 years of consecutive experience with satisfied customers and well-known reference projects. Whether in Germany, Abu Dhabi or in the Netherlands. They can be found everywhere.

PASINI

PFS, Pasini Fratelli Sabbio, from the name of the location in Sabbio Chiese, came to being in 1967 as a fruit of the effort, the intelligence and the farsightedness of its founders brothers Giuseppe and Florido. Originally craftsmen in the field of metal polishing, indefatigable workers and careful observers of the commercial trade, they managed to organize and launch on the market an original and very competitive production of handles, pull handles, knobs, knockers.

The fusion and the stamping of the heat forged brass are closely monitored activities that make up the production process. Sustained by personal experience as well as modern equipment, today, even more than in the past, these activities provide further guarantee of the great resistance and long durability of our door handles. Germany and Scandinavian countries are the first areas out of the Italian borders where Pasini starts its distribution, here starts the expansion.

In 1995 we started the collaboration with the designer Angelo Dolcetti with the creation of the first models of the Classique Line: Lybra and Diandra, this year heralded the beginning of a synergy that will help to spread the Pasini style all over the world.

The respect for the environment is the respect for our future. In an era in which industrial pollution risks spoiling our environment and our well-being is more and more seriously compromised, we are producing clean energy. In 2012 is been installed a photovoltaic system that satisfy a good part of Pasini needs.

ATHMER

Athmer has been the leading global specialist in the design and manufacture of high performance sealing and finger protection systems since the 1950’s.

From our headquarters in Arnsberg, Germany a continued focus on development and innovation has facilitated our emergence as the premium choice in complete door sealing systems. athmer is part of the JCS (Julius Cronenberg Sophienhammer) group of companies. The group was founded in 1711 and recently celebrated its 300th anniversary. Its headquarters remains on the same site – the old Sophienhammer forge – it purchased in 1870 and its operations have grown sustainably ever since, with the group now incorporating 10 companies. The family-owned group is now in its 10th generation and first made a name for itself in the late 19th Century as it developed the first branded scythe, a popular agricultural tool of the period.

The emergence of more modern agricultural techniques in the mid-1950’s gave the group an opportunity to diversify into new markets, leading to the registration of the Kaltefeind® brand and the birth of athmer. Today both the Kaltefeind® and Schall-Ex® brands are synonymous with automatic drop seals and athmer has built on this experience by widening its field of expertise to perimeter sealing.

Having made several investments worldwide, we have expanded our operations into the Middle East and throughout South East Asia, including China and India. With a new global presence we hope to offer a more targeted product offering and more personalised service level to the individual regions.

Athmer has been investing significantly throughout Asia and the region is set to continue its growth. The construction industry will play a big part in that, being tasked with building and modernising the cities of tomorrow.

As cities are modernised, there will be greater focus on the technical aspects of doors and high-performance doorsets. Door technology has advanced significantly, whilst regulations and standards continue to improve. We now rightfully view fire doors as “engineered life safety devices” critical to the protection of both life and property. With loud and crowded cities growing in size and popularity and with studies linking noise to a decrease in overall physical and mental health, acoustic doors now have as essential a role as ever.

Having recently invested in production facilities and sales offices across the region, athmer looks to bring its quality and expertise to a brand new set of customers. As our operations develop we hope to foster strong relationships with our customers, offer a more direct service, reinforce our understanding of the market and implement both a broad and relevant product offering for our customer base.

MORSE WATCHMANS

We invented key management, and we just keep making it better for you.

Since 1882 Morse Watchmans has been helping business owners and managers worldwide keep their businesses safe and secure. Morse Watchmans innovated the tape clock for guard patrols to get rid of bulky, often unreadable metal dials. Our tape clocks were designed with solid state quartz works to assure the greatest accuracy and most reliable performance.

One century later, in the early 1980’s, brothers Manuel and Fernando Pires acquired Morse Watchmans with the goal of making guard tours more reliable and accountable.

As the digital revolution set in, the Pires brothers and their technical team embraced new ways to gather, store, and share security information electronically. In 1987 Morse Watchmans introduced the first data recorder. Now there was a way to automate complete guard tour reports and track stations with a storage capacity of 2,000 readings. Customers also had complete hardware and software conveniently available to them in one package.

Then in 1991, The Boss 2000 series was introduced. This powerful guard tour system, with three models available to maximize security and simplify security supervision, has been placed in over 20,000 facilities globally. Our guard tour products have received many generation upgrades and is relied upon at industries around the world.
